Convinced that “in Christ there is no longer Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for all are one” Community Christian Church supports and encourages the full participation of all people, male and female, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, or physical ability, in the life and leadership of the church. We are accepting of everyone, wherever you may be on your spiritual path. We know the grace of God extends to all people, not just those who hold one particular set of beliefs. We need each other’s perspectives in order to be nurtured into the fullness and wholeness of life that God offers.
Member United Church of Christ Coalition for LGBT Concerns
As lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersexed persons of faith, together with our families and friends, we form a small faith community with regional and national connections in the struggle for justice in church and society. Dignity-Integrity/Rochester (D-I/R) was chartered in 1975 as the first combined chapter of the national organizations of Dignity/USA (Roman Catholic) and Integrity, Inc. (Episcopal).
We meet at St. Luke and St. Simon Cyrene Church, located at 17 South Fitzhugh Street at the corner of Broad Street in downtown Rochester. Parking is free in the lot next to the church unless there’s an event at the Blue Cross Arena. On-street parking is free on weekends. Although independent of “2-Saints,” we maintain a special relationship with this church and its members, supporting each other in ministry and often celebrating special events together.
A coffee hour follows each of our worship services.
We are PASSIONATE
We gather for soul stirring, thought-provoking worship
We delight our children and youth with creative learning and worship activities
We see spiritual life as an exciting, courageous, open-ended adventure
We are PROGRESSIVE
A vigorous debate over moral issues is raging in our country … we embrace this debate and act on the moral values that express our faith, hope, and love for the world. Together we …
Work to protect our city’s children from poverty, violence, and lead-poisoning
Help bring well water to remote African villages through Water for Sudan
Celebrate human diversity in race, ethnicity, ability, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity; partnering in ministry with That All May Freely Serve
Practice our faith in ways that honor peace, equality, and well being for the earth and all its peoples
We are PERSONAL
As spiritual seekers, we want to be a community where people are free to become their truest selves. We welcome the presence, voices, questions, stories, and wisdom of everyone.
More Light Presbyterians for gay and lesbian people and friends meets on the last Sunday of the month at 12:15pm.
