Please join us for the first meeting of Rainbow Reading Connection, a virtual book club hosted by the Out Alliance.  Meetings will be facilitated by Selvia Hanna, Out Alliance Board Member, and occur via Zoom.                                                    Staff Pick – Winner of 2012 Stonewall Book Award in Nonfiction

A Queer History of the United States, written by Michael Bronski was the first book to cover the entirety of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, from pre-1492 to the present.  Did you know there was a same-sex desire colony which broke away from the Plymouth Colony in 1620, celebrating not only atheism but interracial marriage?   Or that there was a transgender evangelist in the early 1800’s that fought for gender equality and led her own congregation in Upstate New York?   Or that internationally famous Shakespearean actor, Charlotte Cushman led an openly lesbian life in the mid-nineteenth century, including a well publicized “female marriage”?  Join us to discover these stories and more at the Rainbow Reading Connection, the first new virtual Out Alliance program of 2021.
