Volunteers of the Month: Paris J’Adore Valentines Dance

Our Volunteer of the month for March is going out to the team of incredible people who made our 2016 Paris J’Adore Community Valentine Dance a huge success. This dance was a test-run to see how a community dance would be perceived in our new home on College Ave. The good news is our new space functioned fabulously with room to spare!

When you walked in the front door of our Resources Center the Saturday night before Valentine Day, you felt as though you were strolling down the Avenue de Suffren on a star-lite night. The ambiance was romantic and welcoming with the image of the Eiffel Tower in the distance.  The food was outstanding with “french pastries” and cheeses that certainly added to the intimate feel of the evening. Friends were chatting at tables and lovebirds were dancing the night away in the Q Gallery. If you closed your eyes you could imagine that you were dancing at a club in the The Marais.

Our heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to this fabulous team of volunteers for making the Valentines Dance a huge success.  We would like to individually recognize the team, Dawn Johncox-Martinez, Deb Truebatch, Anne Tischer, Myranda Gillow, Kristina Lucero, Gretchen Jacobs, Julia Carmen Acosta, Kriss Sniffen, Beth Wood, Tiffiany Karski, Terrie Gill, your hard work and dedication proved that we can host other community dances at the Gay Alliance.

We would be remise no to thank our donors for the evening. Swiftwater Brewing Company, Blue Toad Hard Cider, Sue’s Little Pizza Shop, Cheesy Eddie’s, Shawn O Photo, Outlandish, Equal Grounds and the Bachelor Forum.

There is another community dance already in the works for this spring. LORA, Sage and other groups are busy planning a dance that is scheduled to be held in late April.

The traditional Red Ball will return in 2017! With all of the planning and volunteer hours that were needed for the move into our new home, it was just not feasible to have Red Ball this year. Be prepared for a bigger and better Red Ball that will be at an offsite location due to the number of attendees.

I would like to personally thank everyone that participated in making this Valentine Dance a huge success! Our volunteer’s rock!
